Jeryl Spear assumes top editor position at Launchpad.

LOS ANGELES: Jeryl Spear, who has written for nearly every magazine in the salon/spa trade under the pen name “J. Elaine Spear,” is taking over the editorial helm of Launchpad. “Launchpad fuels my professional passion,” says Spear. “I’m looking forward to using my experience to direct Launchpad’s coverage of the beauty industry.”

Spear knows her stuff. She’s a former stylist and salon owner as well as an experienced author, educator and editor-at-large for top industry magazines such as DAYSPA, Nailpro, Beauty Store Business, Medesthetics and Salon Today. Her expertise is eclipsed only by her love for the beauty industry.

Spear will be joined by Karie Frost, Launchpad’s new fashion editor. Frost has pioneered a “fashion-forward” editorial trend during her five-year tenure at Nailpro magazine. She will report on trends and innovations from the runways of New York, Paris, Milan and Los Angeles.

“Jeryl Spear is one of the industry’s most respected journalists,” says publisher Deborah Carver. “She’s a forward thinker with a wide range of contacts throughout the professional beauty industry. Jeryl and Karie will take Launchpad to new heights.”

Marianne Dougherty will continue with Launchpad through the August issue before leaving to pursue new interests. “Marianne is a wonderfully creative editor, and we appreciate her contribution to the magazine,” Carver says. “We wish her well.”
